Bertram Primary School, near Perth, hosted a Bullying Solutions Seminar on 18 August to discuss strategies for schools to prevent and manage incidents of bullying.
Bertram's Better Buddies coordinator, Natasha Sparkes, prepared a fabulous display for the seminar to highlight the achievements of its Better Buddies program.
The display featured:
• A Better Buddies bus stop for students to find a buddy in the school yard
• Better Buddies purple vests to identify senior buddies outside
• Quotes from students participating in Better Buddies
• Senior buddies who were nominated for a local council leadership award
• Buddies' student timetable
• Photography of buddies enjoying their time together.
The display showcased Bertram's Better Buddies program to seminar guests and was also a great idea for other schools to use at their own events, such as parent information nights, morning teas, or prep orientation sessions.
Students were also treated to a surprise visit by Buddy Bear, which proved to be a highlight.
Rockingham NAB representative, Fiona Simmonds, attended the event to present the school with a Better Buddies sign to display. Fiona also sourced some special Better Buddies photo frames and Buddy Bear colouring activities, for all the buddies to enjoy.
