NAB Schools First Student Award gives voice to students
The Alannah and Madeline Foundation's proud sponsor NAB is excited to launch their new NAB Schools First Student Award in 2011, which will give a voice to the students.
The new Student Award is part of NAB's Schools First Program, which brings together students, teachers, parents and community members to help young people grow. The program provides financial recognition of success in establishing effective school-community partnerships; and financial support to build stronger school-community partnerships.
The NAB Schools First Student Award gives the students the opportunity to tell us how they think things should be running between their school and their community. There is no idea too big or small. It just needs to be an original idea for a partnership in your school community.
This could be a great activity for all students who are participating in the Better Buddies Framework to get involved with. Students could work with their Buddies to come up with ideas of how their school and community can come together to make a positive difference about something they are passionate about.
The relationship could be centred around the Better Buddies Framework or something else that is important to the students and their community.

The best five ideas from across Australia will receive an awesome prize pack for themselves and their school including $2000 to help turn their idea into a reality; support from the NAB Schools First team and flights to Melbourne for a workshop with other winners later in the year.
Over the last two years, NAB Schools First has rewarded 195 Australian schools with over $10 million in funding in recognition of the work they are doing with their local community.
Student Award applications are now open and close at 5.00 pm (AEST) on Friday, 27 May, 2011.
